Breaking the silence

What could be more worthy of breaking my blogging silence except to report on mullets... That's right. One mullet.

So on Wednesday Phil came home from getting his hair cut, says hi to me quickly and heads off to examine his newly cut hair in the mirror. He had the sneaking suspicion that his hair was (gasp!) longer in the back then it was on top. He looked in the mirror and discovered it... he had a mullet! And boy was he mad. So upset that he begged me to cut his hair and fix it. In a moment of shear love and idiocy, I did. You can imagine what came next. Phil no longer has a mullet but he now has a really uneven haircut. So he is really upset because he had a grad school class in 20 minutes and it was the second time this had ever met. I tried to reassure him that no one notices what people's hair looks like in the back. He said that he did and was just sure that everyone would remember. So we went to cost cutters and got it fixed. $5 later he was late to class and much happier.

Well, that crisis got averted- narrowly. Funny thing is the very next day, I had a hair appointment and mine was an equally horrific experience. I went to this new place because I bought a coupon on campus for it! The coupon entitled me to 5 visits to this salon for 60 dollars. One visit being a haircut, the others being highlights, pedicure, manicure and facial. It seemed like a good deal. The guy I went to was the manager of the salon, so I thought that was ensuring my good haircut. Well, I was wrong. I spent a half hour looking for pictures on the internet and found some I really liked. I get to the salon early and eager to get my haircut. I check in and someone who is not the guy who is suppossed to cut my hair, washes it, and puts me under a hair dryer for the next 40 minutes. Then the guy who is supposed to cut my hair, comes over barely looks at my pictures and proceeded to cut me something straight out of the 80s. I came home and cried for a long time. Now I have bangs that I don't know what to do with. And this uncontrollable urge to go buy some leggings...

There you have it folks. I thought that was blog worthy!

Ha, Phil w/ a mullet, that's awesome! I mean... sorry, but as much as he jokes about them it's kinda funny to imagine him w/ one. Although that is incredibly awful timing.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad '80s haircut experience. I expect this would be traumatizing. I keep looking at movies from the last 10 to 15 years and thinking that someday soon we will consider those of equal worth to mock and ridicule. Then I look at my hair in the mirror and wonder who I'm modeling, but then I decide it doesn't matter because no one will ever love me anyway.

Ok, ok... I just mean they won't love me for my hair. ;)

Welcome back to the blogosphere Jenny. Sorry to hear about you and Phils trials and travails in the hair department.

Have I ever told you about the haircut fiasco I had to endure right before my trip to Europe back when I was an undergraduate?
